The Online Troubadour – a musical experiment for the digital age
So, I’ve had this idea… in my blog on business creativity here, I wrote about the potential for business innovators to reach out to their customers online and involve them directly in the development of new products and services. So… what if I was extend this idea to me as a musician? What if I was to reach out my audience and ask them to become involved in my creative process? How far could I take this? There are some interesting possibilities. I could ask folks to:
- Provide feedback on new material I have written. See which new songs people like and which they don’t
- Feedback on parts of songs in progress e.g. I could present some options for lyrics and ask you to say which you prefer
- Contribute their own performance or composition skills to a song
- Comment on or suggest songs for me to cover
- Attend online performances
- Suggest and vote on venues for me to perform live. If enough people want to come and see me in a particular town…
- Vote on what should be in my set-list
…and so on. I am open to suggestions! 🙂
Coupling this with my re-awakened passion for the art of the solo singer-songwriter The Online Troubadour seems an appropriate name for this project.
So, in the spirit of this new venture, I turn to you dear audience for your opinions…
